By: Neil Woodhouse

For the past twelve months, Neyo co-founders Neil Woodhouse and Yogesh Wadher have been on something of an epic journey to create a unique dental practice in the heart of Sussex. As a new and exciting business, we want to share with you who we are, what we do and why we do it. This article will also contain some practical information the help you get acquainted with our business.

Who owns Neyo Dental Specialists?

Neil (a specialist orthodontist) and Yogi (a specialist periodontist) have been buddies since 2010, when they worked together at Brighton Hospital. While they’ve been dreaming about setting up a practice together for over a decade, the dream became a reality in 2022 when they a acquired a derelict Natwest bank in Burgess Hill.

Neyo Dental Specialists is proudly independent. In recent years, the dental landscape has become increasingly corporate owned. As an independent practice, we are solely responsible for designing, planning, and delivering our dental service. We have no shareholders, no financial targets, and no spending restrictions.

What is a dental specialist?

Dental specialists are dentists that have completed an additional 3-5 years of training in their chosen specialty in order to be allowed on the General Dental Council’s specialist register. Specialists usually spend all their time at work practicing their specialty and are very used to treating complex cases and working to extremely high standards.

Neil is a specialist orthodontist, the speciality concerned with your teeth alignment, your bite, and development of the teeth and jaws. As well as the 3 years of additional training in orthodontics, Neil has treated several thousand children and adults with different types of braces and Invisalign.

Yogi is a specialist periodontist. He focuses on treatment patients who suffer from gum disease (the most common cause of tooth loss in adults!). He is also very experienced in dental implants for replacing missing teeth and removing difficult teeth.

What services do you provide at Neyo?

Neil, our orthodontist has over 10 years’ experience in providing Invisalign treatment for teeth straightening. He loves tackling complex problems with Invisalign, sometimes by combining Invisalign with other types of braces. He treats children and adults and can offer all types of braces and retainers.

Yogi can help you if you have any problems with your gums, gum disease or gum recession. He is an expert in placing dental implants, and extracting teeth that your dentist may not want to attempt. He works closely with a dental sedation practitioner for anxious patients.

We also offer dental hygiene for professional teeth cleaning.

When is the grand opening?

The construction of the practice will be finished mid-June 2023 however, before we can open the doors to the public, we need to register with the CQC (Care Quality Commission) which will involve a thorough inspection to ensure our service is safe and high quality. We hope to be fully open by late June/early July. We will keep you posted!

What will your opening hours be?

Initially, Neyo will be open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9am to 5pm.

We will be closed on Thursdays and Sundays.

On Saturdays, there will be some limited opening hours although this will only be for Invisalign and orthodontic patients. As we get busier, the opening hours will be extended.

Is Neyo an NHS or private dentist?

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide NHS treatment at Neyo. We are focused on providing uncompromised specialist treatment of the very highest quality while remaining determined to ensure our pricing is competitive and good value for you.

Can I come to Neyo for general check ups?

We spend all our time providing specialist dental treatment, so we are unable to provide regular check-ups and fillings etc. You will need a general dentist as well. We will happily work closely with your dentist, to ensure that your treatment is well coordinated, and we are all working towards the same goals.

Do I need to be referred to Neyo from my dentist?

It is fine for you to book in directly with one of our specialists. While your dentist may refer you to see us, it is not necessary. Just give us a call, email or pop in and one of our team will talk to you about booking an appointment.
