Key benefit: Prepare your mouth for dental implant treatment

You might have been told you’re not suitable for dental implants, but that doesn’t mean they’re impossible to place. As a specialist dental clinic, we can introduce additional steps and procedures to make implants possible again. This will simply result in a slight delay to your treatment plan rather than cancelling it altogether.
Our pre-implant procedures rebuild your oral structure and jawbone, which can be depleted or lost if you have been missing teeth for a long time. This ensures a strong and stable foundation that can withstand successful implant treatment.

Sinus lift procedures are recommended to make more room in the upper jaw to place dental implants where there is insufficient room near the sinuses. The procedure involves the implant surgeon gently lifting the sinus membrane away from the bone and placing a bone graft material to thicken the jawbone enough to hold a dental implant securely.
Bone grafts
Bone grafts are recommended when Dr Wadher needs to rebuild lost bone in the jaw using materials and membranes that bulk up the bony ridge. It’s generally a minor procedure, with patients reporting little to no pain and having a healing period between 12 and 24 weeks. We offer both autogenous and artificial bone grafts.

You won’t know for sure if you qualify for pre-implant treatment without having a consultation with our implant surgeon in our specialist practice. We examine your case and take digital scans, X-rays and images to determine the best course of treatment. Most people who have been told they can’t have implants will be suitable once pre-implant procedures or other options such as All-on-4 have been considered.
An autogenous bone graft transplants bone from a part of your body (typically chin, jaw or hip) to the area in the jaw where we’ll place the implant. Because the bone used is yours, it reduces the chances of your body rejecting it, leading to improved healing success.
Artificial bone grafting involves using synthetic materials or bone substitutes instead of a patient’s bone. Artificial bone materials can include ceramics, bioglass or synthetic bone materials based on the patient’s choice. Over time, the body will naturally and gradually replace the artificial bone with natural bone.
At Neyo Dental, we use the Khoury technique for sinus lifts, a specific method for the lower jaw to rectify significant bone loss. It is often used when conventional bone grafting treatment is unable to restore the bone. It involves taking thin pieces of bone from another part of your jaw and attaching them to the narrow area, like building walls on either side. Then, crushed bone is packed in between, creating a space that encourages new bone to grow.
Pre-prosthetic procedures like bone grafts help to secure survival rates, with studies showing a 97.2% mean survival rate for implants placed in grafted sites. We priortise creating a strong and healthy environment for dental implants to thrive, offering patients a better long-term investment.
