Achieve stable teeth that won’t wobble when you eat and a more aesthetic gum line with our specialist periodontal regeneration treatment, tailored to your unique gum needs.
Gum disease is stubborn, and sometimes complete gum health can’t be achieved through supportive periodontal care or professional mechanical plaque removal alone. Periodontal regeneration can be a highly effective option used to give your oral health the best chance.

To begin, we examine your teeth and gums, make sure you are suitable for treatment, and explain the procedure, giving you the chance to ask us any questions.
We use local anaesthetic to numb the area being treated and minimise any discomfort. We gently lift the gum pocket, giving us direct access to remove the plaque and calculus below the gum line. We use the most advanced ultrasonic equipment to give the best possible results.
We place a regenerative material into the bone defect to promote growth and restoration. We use Emdogain®, a protein based gel containing Amelogenin, or Cerabone®, a natural bovine bone substitute. We then replace your gum, using tiny stitches to ensure a tighter gum pocket.

The local anaesthetic injection will feel like a small, sharp scratch or pinch. Once it has taken effect, your gum and tooth will be numb and you will not feel any pain during treatment. You may feel some pressure, but this is not painful. The numb sensation can feel tingly or heavy around the teeth being treated, and affect the lips, chin, cheek and tongue, but it wears off soon afterwards.
We recommend you take the rest of the day off work following your treatment. Most people recover enough to go back to work the next day, but everyone heals at a different rate so you may require additional days off work.
It is common to feel some soreness after treatment, which can be managed with over-the-counter painkillers such as paracetamol or ibuprofen. Taking painkillers will help prevent any immediate discomfort or pain.
Yes, if you are feeling very nervous or worried about periodontal regenerative treatment, we can use sedation to help you feel more at ease. Sedation involves injecting medicine into a vein via a small cannula that makes you feel sleepy and relaxes you physically and mentally. If you have sedation, you will need someone to accompany you to your appointment and take you home afterwards.
