If decay reaches the dental pulp in your tooth’s internal structure, it causes damage and infection that needs to be stopped before it causes further issues. Through endodontic treatment, we can remove the infected pulp and restore your tooth shape and strength with a dental crown.
If you’re experiencing symptoms including severe tooth pain, sensitivity to hot and cold, swollen and tender gums, tooth discolouration, or loose teeth, you may need root canal treatment to restore your oral health and function. Find out for sure by booking a consultation with our root canal dentist today!
Book a consultationWhat does the treatment involve?
1We begin your root canal treatment with a detailed consultation with our endodontic dentist. We examine your mouth, and take digital X-rays and 3D images to aid with accurate diagnosis. We also discuss your options and give you a written report and quote.
2If root canal treatment is needed, we book your treatment straight away. We use local anaesthetic to ensure you remain comfortable throughout, and have sedation options if you are feeling particularly nervous. We isolate your affected tooth and carefully remove the infected pulp tissue.
3We clean the root canals and flush with an antibacterial solution to remove any lasting debris. We then seal the canals with rubber-like materials, such as gutta-percha, to prevent further bacteria from entering.
4Two weeks after your endodontic treatment, we place a dental crown on your now-weakened tooth. This greatly reduces the risk of fracture and improves tooth strength, shape and function.

FAQs
The procedure itself can sound scary, but it’s very likely to be nowhere near as bad as you have been expecting! Take it from patients who have been in the chair and reported no pain. You are under local anaesthetic during the procedure and will feel pressure rather than pain. After treatment, you may experience some discomfort, but this can typically be managed with paracetamol or ibuprofen.
At Neyo Dental, our root canal treatment is priced from £1165. It is carried out by a dentist with practice limited to endodontics, which means there’s a higher chance your treatment will succeed. Endodontic consultations are £95, including X-rays, images, discussion of available options and a written report and quote.
Typically, root canal treatment takes 1-2 hours to complete, depending on the complexity of the case. The procedure is often completed in just one appointment, with a follow-up appointment needed to place the dental crown.
When the tooth pulp becomes irreversibly damaged, it needs to be removed to avoid further complications and the spread of infection. Root canal treatment is the only procedure we can use to save the tooth in this instance. The only alternative is extraction, but this can cause more issues and be more costly due to the need to replace the tooth.
If you notice severe pain, sensitivity to hot or cold, gum tenderness, or a tooth that is becoming discoloured, you might need a root canal. The pulp inside your tooth can become damaged or infected for several reasons, mainly tooth decay. Sometimes, when a tooth has a chip or crack, bacteria are free to enter, causing problems within the tooth’s internal structures. Trauma to the tooth and gum disease are also known culprits.
We give you advice and aftercare instructions to follow after your root canal procedure. Most patients typically recover in under a week. The tips below will aid with your healing:
- Eat soft foods post-treatment
- Avoid chewing on the treated tooth
- Consider taking a break from smoking
- Maintain good oral hygiene
- Use antibacterial mouthwash
